Psychologist

Shagufta has a Bachelors in Psychology (Hons) from Newcastle University and a Masters of Professional Psychology from Macquarie University. She is a Registered Psychologist with AHPRA. She is a compassionate person with professional boundaries and enjoyed working with children, adolescents and adults. Shagufta uses a client-centred approach and develops good rapport with her clients in order for them to achieve their goals. Her theory is that you are the expert in your life and the therapists role is to empower you.

Shagufta uses a blend of Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT),  and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). She speaks Urdu and Hindi as well as English. Her areas of interest are depression, anxiety, grief/loss and complex trauma. She has extensive experience in the NDIS space for over five years, working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and supporting their families. Her experience also includes treating individuals with Schizophrenia spectrum and Bipolar disorders.
