Senior Psychologist & Supervisor
Lauren has been working in a therapeutic role in mental health as a Psychologist for more than 18 years and has full registration with the Australian Board of Allied Health Professionals. Lauren is also an AHPRA approved and certified Supervisor for Provisionally Registered and fully Registered Psychologists providing professional development training and early career supervision.
Over the course of her career Lauren has split her time professionally between working in private practice with general/clinical issues, sport/performance enhancement with NSW Institute of Sport and Department of Justice, Youth Justice, within the custodial setting. Additionally, she has undertaken teaching at a Tertiary level for a number of years, delivering lectures on performance enhancement and motivation.
Additionally, Lauren has worked for several years developing and collaborating on establishing a Dialectical Behavioural Therapy intervention to be administered and applied in custody for troubled young offenders in order to meet their forensic and criminogenic needs. Lauren has designed treatment sessions, lead and facilitated DBT groups as well as trained Youth Justice staff and clinicians.
The Philosophy that underlies her treatment style is one of nurturing, empowerment and problem solving. Lauren works with individuals and groups alike, from a trauma informed perspective identifying challenges, defining roles of responsibility and establishing personal perceptions of effective resources, all in view of resolving challenges and making way for improved coping and management, change and/or alternate outcomes.
Lauren has experienced successful and effective results working with clients, patients and athletes on a face to face basis as well as telehealth. Lauren prioritises the development of rapport and trust which is fundamental to facilitating sound working relationships, allowing for reciprocal input and commitment.
In this capacity Lauren has worked to help treat a broad range of Mood disorders, Anxiety disorders, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Complex Trauma, Grief and loss, and Drug & Alcohol abuse/addiction, as well as parenting, child and adolescent concerns (including risk of self harm/suicidality). Lauren is very experienced in assessment, testing and report writing and employs a combination of the most appropriate strategies including and not limited to: Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Therapy, Interpersonal and Family Therapy, Mindfulness, Solution Focussed Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Emotion Coaching, Grief & Loss, Alcohol and other drug treatment, Childhood related disorders and presentations.
Lauren consults from both our Campbelltown and Moorebank rooms.
