Kara holds a Bachelor of Science (Psychology) and a Master of Arts (Psychology) (Developmental Psychopathology).  Kara is registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), a full member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS); member of the Australian Association of Psychologist Inc (APPi);  member of the Association of Psychologists in Developmental Disability (PsychDD); member of the Association for Behaviour Analysis Australia (MABAA)and a registered Medicare Australia Provider. Kara is also a Psychologist Board- Approved Supervisor (PsychBA)  for Provisionally Registered Psychologists and has provided professional development training on a range of topics to allied health professionals and other disciplines.

Kara has worked in a variety of settings including university, community, disability, and private settings for the past 26 years.  Kara is experienced in working with a wide variety of presentations including anxiety, depression, self-harm, grief & loss, developmental and complex trauma, attachment, eating disorders, neuro-developmental and intellectual disabilities, and significant challenging behaviour.

Kara has a particular interest in working with children, adolescents and their families who have cognitive, emotional, attachment, sensory and/or behavioural difficulties and works from a strengths-based approach.  Kara employs a range of evidence- based therapies including Mindfulness, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance-Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Play Therapy and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy.
